Overheating Course Information
This 1-day online course will give you the knowledge you need to confidently use DesignBuilder’s overheating tools enabling you to complete overheating assessments using dynamic thermal modelling in the DesignBuilder software. This is in preparation for new Building Regulations due to come into force in 2022 which will see calculation of overheating risk be taken out of Part L and replaced by a new Building Regulation supported by a new Approved Document.
Once you have completed this course you will be sent a competency assessment. Completion of this will give you access to join the Elmhurst Overheating Competency Scheme, where you will receive;
- Industry recognition of competence to undertake Overheating risk assessments.
- Addition to our list of competent Overheating Risk Assessors available on our website.
- Technical support to members on Overheating regulations and carrying out Overheating Risk Assessments.
- Updates on future Building Regulation and technical standard changes in regards to Overheating.
- Introduction to Overheating
- Using DesignBuilder’s TM52 tools
- Using DesignBuilder’s TM59 tools
- Modelling for BB101 overheating risk
- Modelling for BREEAM overheating credits
- Meeting the overheating requirements of anticipated Building Regulations and planning conditions such as the London Plan
You will receive 1 year’s access to DesignBuilder on-demand training material which must be completed before attending the overheating course. On the day of the course you must have completed this training to be capable of keeping up with the trainer. Once you have received access to this training material we are unable to refund the on-demand training fee of £350.
- Introduction to the DSM interface and user manual.
- Creating dynamic simulation models ‘from scratch’ and importing/exporting from BIM models and other tools.
- Entering Model Data, Activities and Zoning.
